  16. 'We can all play a role in supporting this movement' - Aileen Campbellpublished at 13:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 March 2019

    Communities Minister Aileen Campbell

Communities Minister Aileen Campbell starts by thanking everyone for their light-hearted approach today.

She says it's right we recognise the benefits of the movement, saying there are close to 170 Men's Sheds in Scotland today.

Tackling social isolation is one of the main benefits, as well as improving physical and mental health, she says.

The Scottish Government supplies £75,000 in core funding to the movement, Ms Campbell states, but this is about supporting a grassroots movement, not about providing a blueprint.
