    Airline Aurigny said more than double the amount of seats on flights to the Isle of Man have been sold than was originally planned for.

    The Guernsey States-owned airline had originally allocated 1,700 seats for the flights between 22 July and 30 August.

    It said 3,700 had been now been sold and it was planning to put on extra flights running until 13 September.

    Some 33% of 454 survey respondents from Jersey say there has been a reduced demand for services at their place of work since this time last year.

    Workers in Guernsey responded in a similar fashion, with 28% of 519 islanders also witnessing a fall in demand.

    When asked to predict when demand would return to pre-Covid levels, 21% of Jersey respondents answered it would be within two months.

    It compares to 26% of people from Guernsey and the Isle of Man who also said the same, Island Global Research reports.

    However, 22% of people from Jersey and 24% of people from Guernsey reported an increase in demand for products and services this year.

    The health and social sector was the category most frequently selected as experiencing a surge in demand during the crisis.

    The number of people reporting a loss in household income during the coronavirus crisis has fallen to 32% in both Jersey and Guernsey, independent research has revealed.

    A survey conducted by Island Global Research found that in April, 40% of Jersey respondents reported a shortfall, and 43% said the same in Guernsey.

    People earning under £20k in the Crown Dependencies, including the Isle of Man, are most likely to have experienced a fall in their household income during the crisis.

    Those reporting a loss in this group has increased from 34% in April to 38% in June.

    In comparison, groups earning more than £20k saw less people reporting a fall in income in June, compared to earlier in the year.

    However the number of furloughed respondents who have a reduced income remains at 88% from April to June.

    More than half of 519 respondents from Guernsey claim to be "thriving" under the current coronavirus rules, a survey has found.

    Work conducted by Island Global Research revealed 58% of Guernsey residents rated their current life satisfaction as eight or more out of 10.

    In comparison, only 31% of 454 Jersey residents responded in the same way.

    Work was found to be the most common cause of stress and anxiety for respondents, with 45% of people from Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man singling it out.

    Feelings of loneliness have fallen by 50% since April, with only 7% of the 1,340 respondents from the Crown Dependencies reporting they feel isolated "often or always".

    It's down from 15% of people who answered the same on the week commencing 20 April.

    The CEO of Aurigny has revealed that 60% of seats for the new Guernsey-Isle of Man air link were sold on the first day.

    Flights between the two jurisdictions were available to purchase from Wednesday, after an "air bridge" was created between the two Crown Dependencies.

    Mark Darby said "the phone has been ringing off the hook" and around 60% of seats have already been booked in the first day.

    He said: "We've already upgraded six of the flights to our jet, just because we need the seats."

    The link is initially set to run for six weeks between the 22 July and the end of August, Mr Darby confirmed.
