    Nearly 180 parents have registered with Jersey's Back to Work scheme - pushing up the number of people looking for a job. 

    Parents on income support are now expected to find work when their children qualify for the 20 hours free nursery care.

    There are currently 1,430 people registered as actively seeking work in Jersey which is 90 more than last month but down 130 on this time last year.

    • The temporary traffic lights near Salerie Corner are back up this morning from 09:00 until 16:00 tomorrow 
    • In St Martins, Saumarez Road is closed until the middle of November, affecting buses 91 - 95 
    • Several reports have been received regarding traffic avoiding the current road closures by using the small lanes around Les Traudes and Les Hubits which have caused these lanes to become gridlocked

    Condor Ferries is defending its new schedule that will only give day-trippers from Guernsey six hours in Jersey before they have to catch the return ferry.

    Condor says it hopes its 2017 timetable will encourage more inter-island journeys and says that transport operators, politicians and the government must all work together to revive Guernsey's struggling tourism industry.

    CEO Paul Luxon said he will invest over £1m a year in marketing the services but said he was unlikely to be able to reverse - in a single year - the 22% decline in sea passenger numbers to Guernsey.
