  4. Championship 'not funded sufficiently'published at 09:12 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2016

    BBC Radio Jersey

A former member of the Jersey Reds committee says the Rugby Football Union should be doing more to help support clubs in the Championship.

Jersey Reds has sold off its clubhouse, stands, main pitches and a car park to raise £1.5 which it needs to keep playing rugby in the Championship.

    Quote Message

It's a very expensive league to be in. The RFU just don't fund it sufficiently whatsoever. The Championship is as far as we can go, and we may have to cut our cloth accordingly by reducing our squad, having some semi-professional players, and work on another way around it. There'll be a sub-committee formed shortly."
