A local charity appeal for bicycles has exceeded expectations collecting nearly 60 bikes which will be transported to Romania and given to people living in disadvantaged communities.
After an aid collection by Mustard Seed Jersey at the Holme Grown centre yesterday, the charity has now received 59 bikes.
The original target was 50.
Rose Helie from the charity said they were "thrilled" by the fantastic response.
The bikes will help adults in Romania to get to work, and some children to get to school, saving them the costs of public transport, the charity added.

People currently working in Guernsey on a short-term housing licence who have accrued more than 45 months residency by 2 April 2017, will be able to return to the island indefinitely, the States say.
The new rules also apply to those on their three-month break between short-term licences, as long as they continue with a nine months on, three months off pattern.
These new "grandfather rights" came into effect today as part of the island's population law.
However, if a person who has these rights leaves the island for three years, they no longer apply.
Quote MessageFor those who will now receive grandfather rights following the States' decision, it is very straightforward. If their current or most recent document was a short-term housing licence, and they have more than 45 months residency in Guernsey, they will be able to continue their nine months on three months off pattern indefinitely.
Esther Ingrouille , Population management team leader

Jersey Reds are into the final of the British and Irish Cup for the first time.
They beat Championship leaders London Irish for the second consecutive weekend, this time by 25 points to 17.
Jersey's captain James Freeman was pleased with the way his side controlled the match, despite being behind going into the closing stages of the match.
Quote MessageIt's something we've never done before, the B&I Cup final. There's a sense of elation, especially coming here. We've done it the hard way I'd say, we've come to Irish to back up a win from last week. We've played how we wanted to play, controlled the game how we wanted to do it. It's huge.
James Freeman, Captain, Jersey Reds
