    Rob Byrne
    BBC News Online

Further snow is expected across the islands this morning, a senior forecaster at Jersey Met has said.

People in Guernsey are waking up to a largely clear picture this morning, while there was only a light dusting of snow in Jersey.

The band of snow forecast to hit the islands overnight ended up over Normandy, Senior Forecaster Adrienne Le Maistre told the BBC.

"There are going to be further outbreaks during the day - so we're not out of the woods yet.

"I think the first band didn't have as much in it as we'd initially thought, but there's still the potential for getting quite a bit more during the course of the day.

"As well as the snow we're also looking at freezing rain and drizzle."

A band of snow moving north has left the Brittany coast and is expected to arrive in Jersey shortly, she added.

However if your flight was cancelled yesterday in anticipation of the heavy snow, you're being asked to not go to the airport despite the conditions not being as bad as expected.

Jersey Airport said: "If your flight has been cancelled please do not come to the airport but contact your airline directly for alternative travel options."

It seems the islands have escaped any heavy accumulations overnight, but icy conditions have been reported this morning as schools close for the third day running.
