More men than women took their own life in Guernsey in recent years according to figures from charity Guernsey Mind.
The charity says of the 12 deaths by suicide or undetermined injury recorded between 2013 and 2015 10 were men and two were women.
It is launching a campaign aimed at raising awareness about what it is calling "alarming" levels of male suicide.
Nick Cannon, who has recently overcome mental health issues is backing the campaign, called Stop Male Suicide, and said: "If we don't talk about it it's not going to go away, it's only going to get worse.
"We know how many people are taking their own lives but we also have the tens, hundreds and thousands of people stood behind them on that cliff."
