Sgt Lisa Hart said: "Thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused to vehicles and property in a short period of time, and it’s important that we identify those responsible and bring them to justice.

Officers have carried out house-to-house inquiries and are continuing to appeal for anyone with CCTV cameras in the areas to come forward.

Sgt Hart said: "We also know that at least one of the group sustained an injury during the course of the evening – so if anyone knows of someone who may have suffered an unexplained injury over the weekend, we would ask them to get in contact."

  2. Assisted dying: Majority of GDA members are 'against'published at 14:23 British Summer Time 8 May 2018

    Chris Quevatre
    BBC News Online

There isn't enough time before the States debate on assisted dying to properly research and consult with the Guernsey Disability Alliance (GDA) members, according to the organisation.

The GDA has more than 14 member groups and 100 individual members and has come out against the assisted dying proposals that are due to be debated next week.

Karen Blanchford, from the GDA, said the majority of members are against the idea, although a previous statement admitted the charity hadn't had time to ask everyone.

    Quote Message

It's really hard to ask the membership at a time when we're focused on equality legislation and we have a timeline on that for 25 May - another really, really big question within a very, very short timeline. I would say that we, so far, have not had one strong representation in favour. There isn't the chance to do really through research and consultation."

  7. Survey on mortgage bond fees is livepublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 8 May 2018

    Chris Quevatre
    BBC News Online

The States of Guernsey has told a mortgage broker that abolishing the bond fee, which is paid when you buy a property in the island, can only happen if he can provide proof the money saved would be invested in the property.

Paul Welch wants to get rid of the charge - which is separate from document duty - as he believes it is another barrier to the housing market. He's launched a survey to find out how house buyers would spend the extra money.

It's a topic that has prompted a lot of debate on Twitter - if you want to complete the survey, click here, external.

    Questions include:

How many times in your lifetime have you paid bond fees?

Do you know how much you paid in bond fees for your home?

If you had not had to pay bond fees, how would you have spent the sum of money?

  12. Jersey 'needs to prepare' for return of ownership debatepublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 8 May 2018

    Chris Quevatre
    BBC News Online

Jersey's politicians should prepare for UK MPs trying to force Crown Dependencies to publish registers of beneficial ownership, according to an island senator.

UK MPs have agreed to force overseas territories like the Cayman Islands to publish their registers to crack down on money laundering, but - as Crown Dependencies - Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man were left off the list.

Senator Philip Ozouf says UK politicians will come back to the debate and try to change this in future.

    Quote Message

It's a holding pattern, it's going to come back. The issue of beneficial ownership registers is going to be examined again. So we now need to put in plans how we're going to respond to those issues - properly and responsibly."

  14. Evidence of reinvestment needed to scrap bond feepublished at 10:46 British Summer Time 8 May 2018

    Chris Quevatre
    BBC News Online

Research examining the cost of the bond fee payable to the States of Guernsey when you buy a house in the island is being undertaken by a local mortgage broker today.

Islanders are being urged to give their thoughts to a survey that could cut thousands of pounds off the price of buying homes in Guernsey.

Mortgage Broker Paul Welch says he needs evidence people will spend money elsewhere on the property.

    Quote Message

The States' committees are asking for evidence, so I've said 'Fine, I'll commission a survey'. We'll find out where the money's going to be spent. So if you didn't have this tax, where would you spend the money? If it's a first-time buyer they might buy a new sofa, they might buy a new TV, the house might need a lick of paint, it might need a new roof - and all money that is saved - I believe - would probably go back into the property."
