Kasabian have revealed that their fourth studio album will be called Velociraptor!, contains 11 tracks and will be released on 19 September.

The Leicester band's new single, Switchblade Smiles, was given its first play on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show.

The track can be streamed on the group's website and is also available as a download when pre-ordering the record from the Kasabian online store.

"Switchblade Smiles is a warning sign basically," Tom Meighan said.

"We've got this tune that reminds me of a KRS-One hook.

"We've got a love song on there, Goodbye Kiss, which is a heartbreaker. A lot of people are going to break up to it and probably get married to it."

Lead singer Meighan says fans shouldn't expect to hear too many new songs over the summer.

He said: "We'll play Switchblade Smiles and Velociraptor! It's nice to give the audience a little taste of what's to come. When the record's out, it'll be a whole new record."

Kasabian recorded the follow-up to West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum in Leicester and then travelled to San Francisco to mix it.

"We got on with it," said Meighan. "We didn't mess around, we didn't hang around. Me and Sergio [Pizzorno] got all these songs and just got on and did the record."

The band are playing a warm-up gig in Manchester tonight (8 June).

They're also due to appear at this weekend's RockNess and Isle of Wight festivals.
