Eminem is to play a one-off gig in Glasgow later this year, it has been announced.

The rapper is the first name to be revealed for a series of concerts at Bellahouston Park.

He'll perform on 20 August as part of the Glasgow Summer Sessions just before shows at the Reading and Leeds festivals.

His new studio album is due for release in 2013, although it currently has no title or release date.

Both Dr. Dre and 50 Cent are reported to feature on the record.

Reading and Leeds

Eminem has already been announced as one of the headliners at Reading and Leeds this year.

That event takes place between Friday 23 and Sunday 25 August.

He first headlined Reading and Leeds 11 years ago. His most recent UK festival appearance came at V in 2011.

His single with Rihanna, Love The Way You Lie, was 2011's biggest-selling single in the UK.

Geoff Ellis, chief executive of organisers DF Concerts, said: "We're delighted to announce Eminem as the first major act for Glasgow Summer Sessions.

"His performance at T in the Park and his previous stadium show at Hampden were spectacular, so this gig will be one of the events of the year.

"As it's one of the most important music destinations in the world, we're also excited about what else we have to announce for Summer Sessions and there will be more news soon."

Tickets for the Bellahouston Park gig go on sale on Wednesday 30 January.
