Kasabian have announced a homecoming gig at Victoria Park in Leicester in 2014.

It will be the first time the band have played in the UK since their concert at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London in July.

The band are currently in the studio recording their fifth album.

"We are hugely honoured to be playing in our home town at such an incredible setting right in the heart of the city," said guitarist Serge Pizzorno.

"It's a happening we've been planning for years. Summer solstice is coming; set the controls for the heart of the sun," he added.

Speaking to Newsbeat about the new album, Pizzorno said there were a few titles being discussed but nothing had been decided yet.

He added: "You have to be careful what you say in the beginning. [The album] is very futuristic.

"It's very empowering as well. It makes you feel like King Kong."

The band are made up of Pizzorno, vocalist Tom Meighan, bassist Chris Edwards and drummer Ian Matthews.

The Leicester gig will take place on Saturday 21 June.

Earlier this year Kasabian guitarist Jay Mehler left the group to join Liam Gallagher's band Beady Eye.

"Jay is our bro we're all good and the last six years have been mega," said singer Sergio Pizzorno on Kasabian's Facebook page.
