For a band who only signed their record deal in 2014 it's been a pretty big year for Essex five-piece Nothing But Thieves.

It saw the release of their debut album, get slots at Reading and Leeds and enjoy the support of some famous fans.

We look back at the past 12 months for one of the most exciting new British bands.

"The Electric Ballroom was the best show ever," says guitarist Joe.

The gig, in Camden in London, was their biggest headline show to date and came hot off the heels of their album release.

"It was just absolutely pumping, everyone was so into it, the reception was just unreal," adds frontman Conor Mason.

But it was the festival season that really captured the band's hearts, especially one.

"Reading was our festival," explains Joe, "I went to it as a kid all the time, so that was good one to play at.

"It was great to be on the other side for the first time."

Their growing fan base has included a number of famous faces, which have also provided some highlights for the band.

They performed at the Versus Versace Fall Collection show in London in May.

"Donatella Versace loves us," declares Conor.

"Donatella is actually a fan of the band, she sang all the words back and she was dancing along to everything.

"I actually winked at her which was nice."

There were a few other famous faces in the crowd that were slightly off-putting for the guys.

"I saw Arya from Game of Thrones and missed a note," admits bassist Philip Blake, "I was like OMG freaking out."

"It [the event] was all a bit much, there were too many good looking people there.

"We walked in like 'why have we agreed to perform at a Versace event?'"

That is not their only brush with Game of Thrones, as the actor who plays Hodor, Kristian Nairn is also a big fan.

"He is the nicest man, I've been emailing him for about a month," explains Conor.

"He is friends with a friend of a friend, and he just gave our email out, so he wants to go for a beer, you know we are just pals now."

Well the friendship seemingly led to a visit to the set of the popular television show.

Nothing But Thieves heard rumours that Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro is a fan.

And if that is not enough, apparently Simon Neil, frontman from Biffy Clyro likes their music.

"Which is massive," says guitarist Dom Craik.

"Because we are massive fans of that band, their's is sort of a van album, that is hearsay though (that they are fans)."

So Nothing But Thieves have ended their year with gigs in the USA, a top 10 album and go into 2016 with a UK tour that is selling out fast.
