Ellie Goulding is going to take a break from music.

But she says she's definitely not quitting the industry, as some newspapers have claimed.

The singer tweeted: "Just having a break. It's been seven years since I had time off..."

She's currently in the middle of a world tour which finishes in October and will play Radio 1's Big Weekend in May.

The 1975, Coldplay, Bring Me The Horizon, Chase & Status and Craig David will also play in Exeter during the bank holiday weekend.

In the past seven years she's released three albums, made 29 music videos, won two Brit Awards and been on six tours.

Earlier this year she narrowly escaped death after a vehicle she was in began to sink on a lake in Norway.

She posted on Instagram: Throwback to a few weeks ago when myself and @conormcdphoto nearly ended up in a lake in -30... Note to self don't drive a BV206 over a frozen lake, external

Speaking to the Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw, she said: "I was rescued within five minutes. But when the person went back to get everyone else, it'd nearly entirely sunk. It was five metres down. But I'm fine.

"The thing that we were in collapsed over a lake.

"We were told it was safe but it clearly wasn't. We were in safe hands but it was pretty scary."
