Pavlo Lapshyn's father: 'He was never calculating, no way'

BBC Russia has spoken to Sergey Lapshyn, the father of the Ukrainian student Pavlo Lapshyn who stabbed to death 82-year-old Mohammed Saleem as he was walking home from a Birmingham mosque on 29 April.

Speaking in Dnipropetrovsk, Pavlo's home city in Ukraine, Mr Lapshyn said he found it hard to recognise the police's characterisation of his son as cold-blooded, adding "he was never calculating, no way".

Mr Lapshyn also said he struggled to believe what his son had done.
