Sandwell boy charged over helicopter laser incident

A 17-year-old Sandwell boy has been charged with shining a laser at the West Midlands Police helicopter.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with shining a light at an aircraft so as to dazzle or distract the pilot.

The charge is in connection with an incident in the early hours of 18 May when a laser pen is alleged to have been shone at the helicopter.

The teenager is due to appear at Warley Youth Court on 26 May.
