Birmingham City Council: Frustration over 'bankrupt' authority

Residents have expressed disappointment over huge cuts to local authority services.

Birmingham City Council is attempting to fill a £300m budget shortfall over the next two years after declaring itself bankrupt in September.

Dramatic measures include a 21% council tax rise and a £1.25bn sell off of assets to repay a government bailout loan.

Bosses also face equal pay claims of up to £760m and an £80m overspend on an under-fire IT system.
