Bristol 'slavery' raids: Seven released on bail

Three travellers' sites in Winterbourne, Almondsbury and Easter Compton were raided

Seven people arrested on suspicion of slavery offences in the Bristol area, have been released on bail.

Three travellers' sites near Bristol were raided on Sunday, along with properties in Kingswood and Redland and a farm in Yeovil, Somerset.

The raids follow an investigation into forced labour and human trafficking, which led to the rescue of three men.

Avon and Somerset Police said help, support and safe accommodation had been offered to the victims.

Salvation Army

The force said The Salvation Army would be working with the men - who are aged between 30 and 50 - to assess their needs.

Those released on police bail are four men aged 63, 59, 24 and 45 and three women aged 23, 59 and 43.

During the raids, two were arrested on suspicion of slavery offences, with other arrests relating to offences including cannabis production, money laundering and handling stolen goods.

The travellers' sites targeted include Northwood Park in Winterbourne, Tall Trees in Almondsbury and Green Orchard in Easter Compton.
