Extended lifeguard cover in Cornwall has been a success, the RNLI said.

Lifeguards extended their safety patrols at Fistral Beach, Newquay, in response to an increasing number of people going in the water in November.

The RNLI said about 50 people were in the water on Saturday despite snow being on the beach.

Greg Spray from the RNLI said: "Seeing the beach covered in snow was very strange, so the additional patrols have been well worth it."
