Josh Clayton's body identified after Tresco search

Josh Clayton went missing during the early hours of 13 September

A body found in the water off the Isles of Scilly has been formally identified as that of missing man Josh Clayton.

The body of the 23-year-old was recovered from rocks to the north of Tresco on 23 September.

An eight-day search was launched for Mr Clayton, from Taunton, who worked for the Tresco Estate, after he went missing on 13 September.

He was discovered by a French yachtsman and recovered by the St Mary's lifeboat.

Police said: "His family have been kept informed throughout and a file is now being prepared for the coroner."

Coastguards, police dogs, divers and a helicopter were involved in the search along with local people and holidaymakers. Mr Clayton's disappearance was described as "out of character" at the time.
