Plymouth anti-social dispersal order begins

A dispersal order has been introduced to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in Plymouth.

Residents in Barne Barton had complained to police about fires in wheelie bins, verbal abuse and criminal damage to properties and vehicles.

The order was requested by the police and approved by the council.

Between 6 January and 29 June police will be able to move people from the area when they are causing a nuisance and prevent situations from escalating.

Councillor Glenn Jordan said: "Dispersal orders have been used very successfully in the past to tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour.

"This order will support a range of measures to deal with the problems being experienced in the area including youth work."
