Plans to secure unauthorised Poole traveller sites

Six sites could be secured in Poole including Whitecliff and Branksome Recreation Ground

Council money allocated to create temporary traveller sites in Poole could be used to secure six sites which have seen unauthorised encampments.

The proposals follow the borough council planning committee's rejection of two sites at Creekmoor and Oakdale.

The authority has said it will not pursue finding temporary sites this summer.

The remaining £231,000 could now be used at "vulnerable" sites, including Whitecliff and Verity Crescent.

The other sites are Baiter, Haskells Recreation Ground, Broadstone Recreation Ground and Branksome Recreation Ground.

A decision on a proposed temporary site at Piddlehinton is expected to be made by Dorset County Council's planning committee on 9 May.
