Ferndown: Man, 88, led to safety from bathroom fire

An 88-year-old man has been led to safety by firefighters after a fire broke out in the bathroom of a house.

Crews from five stations were sent to the home on Tricketts Lane, Ferndown, Dorset after the fire started on Wednesday shortly after 22:15 GMT.

The fire service said crews found the fire in the first floor bathroom had spread to the roof of the house.

Firefighters said a further five people were able to leave the home uninjured after hearing a smoke alarm sounding.
