Stroud District Council's plans for new homes on show

Residents in Gloucestershire can comment on plans to build more than 3,000 new homes in the Stroud district.

Formally known as the Core Strategy, the district council has identified six key locations for expansion.

The plans, which look at housing and job provision until 2026, could also create up to 6,000 jobs.

Conservative councillor Barbara Tait, cabinet member for planning and the environment, said it was important people had their say.

"We just want the public to go along and express their points of view," she said.

"We've been out for consultation before this and this is what we've come to."

The locations proposed in and around Stroud are at Hunts Grove, north east Cam, to the west of Stonehouse and along the Stroud Valleys, at Aston Down and at Sharpness.

"Officers will decipher [the responses] and decide what the next step is," added Mrs Tait.

"Obviously we then go to the inspector who will have a look at how we've got to the results and make his decision as to whether this goes through or not."

The plans are on show at Winterbottam Hall, Cam.
