Gosport murder: Further charge over death of Levi Kent

Police found Levi Kent seriously injured in the early hours of the morning

An eighth person has been charged as part of a murder investigation into the death of a man described as a "gentle, ginger giant".

Levi Kent, 22, died after police found him seriously injured in Keyes Road, Gosport, on 24 November.

Michael Figgins, 63, of St Ann's Crescent in Gosport was charged with two counts of assisting an offender.

He has been released on conditional bail to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on 21 March.

Two men were previously charged with murder, and five others face charges connected to the incident.

The seven charged are:

  • Tommy West, aged 18 of Fisgard Road in Gosport, charged with murder, robbery and possession of a bladed article

  • Aiden West, aged 24, of Tudor Close in Gosport, charged with murder, robbery and possession of a bladed article

  • Sarah Flynn, aged 36, of James Close in Gosport, charged with assisting an offender

  • Joanne West, aged 45, of no fixed abode, charged with two counts of assisting an offender

  • Peter West, aged 42, of Fisgard Road in Gosport, charged with two counts of assisting an offender

  • Liam Savage, aged 37, of Trinity Green in Gosport, charged with two counts of assisting an offender

  • Mark Phillips, aged 56, of Gilbert Close in Gosport, charged with perverting the course of justice and witness intimidation

A trial date has been set at Portsmouth Crown Court for 24 June.

In a tribute, his mother described Mr Kent as a "kind, caring and funny man".

He was known in the Gosport area as a "gentle, ginger giant", his family added.
