Two men have been stabbed during a fight at the Parklife Weekender in Manchester.

Police and paramedics were called to the festival's Heaton Park site at about 19:30 BST on Saturday.

One of the men was taken to hospital for treatment, while the other was treated on-site. Two men were arrested.

A police spokesman said there had been "several other assaults" in which three men were injured but it was "unclear" if weapons had been used on them.

Ch Insp Gary Simpson said the attacks had been "isolated incidents".

The two-day festival, the start of which was delayed due to heavy rain, is expected to attract some 60,000 revellers in total.

Saturday's bill, which was headlined by rapper Snoop Dogg, also saw sets from drum and bass quartet Rudimental and singer-songwriters Katy B and Foxes.

Sunday's line-up, which will be closed by indie rockers Foals, also features hip-hop legends Public Enemy, electronica act SBTRKT and rock band Bastille.
