Whitefield stabbing: Three boys arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

Three boys have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an 18-year-old man was stabbed in the arm and seriously injured.

Two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old have been held for questioning after the street attack in Whitefield, Bury.

A 20-year-old man from Bury has previously been charged with affray and possessing an offensive weapon over the stabbing on 28 March.

Greater Manchester Police said the victim had suffered "immense anguish".

The force said it had carried out "extensive" investigations into the attack on Abingdon Avenue at about 17:05 GMT.

Earlier, a 49-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was bailed on "strict conditions".

A 33-year-old held on the same charge was also released on bail.

A 16-year-old boy who was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was released with no further action, the force said.
