Archbishop of Liverpool Patrick Kelly suffers 'slight stroke'

The Archdiocese of Liverpool said Archbishop Kelly's condition was "comfortable".

The Archbishop of Liverpool the Rt Rev Patrick Kelly is in hospital after suffering a "slight stroke".

In a statement, the Catholic Archdiocese said Archbishop Kelly was admitted to hospital earlier, with his condition described as "comfortable".

The 74-year-old is expected to remain in hospital for several days.

The statement said: "The Most Reverend Patrick Kelly was admitted to hospital this morning after suffering a slight stroke".

"Please remember Archbishop Patrick in your prayers at this time."

Earlier this year, he celebrated 50 years as a priest.
