RNLI lifeguards' quad bikes stolen on Merseyside

Four quad bikes have been stolen from the RNLI on Merseyside.

The equipment was taken between Thursday evening and Friday morning, by raiders at the charity's support centre in Formby.

The quad bikes, worth about £6,000 each, are used by lifeguards for safety patrols on Crosby, Formby, Southport and Ainsdale beaches.

Lifeguard supervisor Pete Rooney said it was "heart-breaking" to discover the thefts.
