Liverpool Giants: Story of couple divided by war told
The story of a couple who were divided by World War One is to be told as part of the Liverpool Giants show.
The 'Memories of August 1914' event will see three giants tell the story of the Liverpool Pals, the voluntary battalions from the city who served in the war.
Jack Currie was a Mersey river pilot when he answered Lord Derby's call to arms and became a Liverpool Pal.
He and his sweetheart Sarah sent letters throughout the war and were later married.
Actress Sue Johnston met Jack and Sarah's granddaughters Shelagh France and Penny Cheseldine to hear their story.
