Tribute to Liverpool Hope student who died after Halloween party

An 18-year-old student found dead at her university halls of residence in Liverpool was "intelligent, bubbly and popular," her family has said.

Alisha Bartolini, from Appley Bridge, near Wigan, was found at Liverpool Hope University accommodation in Taggart Avenue, Childwall on Saturday.

She had been to a Halloween party the night before. Police said her death is being treated as unexplained.

In a statement, her family said they were "absolutely devastated".

'Bright student'

Miss Bartolini's parents Michaela and Sean said: "We are... struggling to come to terms with what has happened. No-one can ever expect or prepare for losing a child at such a young age.

"It is every parent's worst nightmare and we are utterly devastated. We are proud to have spent the time with her."

The former Abraham Guest High School pupil and Saint John Rigby College student was studying Marketing and Media at the university.

Dean of Students Dr Penny Haughan said: "Alisha was a well-liked and bright student, and was settling in well to the Liverpool Hope community. We are deeply saddened to hear of her death. "

A post-mortem examination has proved inconclusive. Miss Bartolini's death is being treated as unexplained by police until a cause of death is established.

She had been to a Halloween party at Nation nightclub in Liverpool before being found at about 17:30 GMT.

The club said it was "not helpful to speculate" about the cause of her death.
