Liverpool Futurist Cinema 'in danger of collapse'
- Published
Urgent repair work is to be carried out to make a derelict cinema in Liverpool safe after an inspection showed it was in danger of collapse.
Building safety inspectors have said the condition of the Futurist Cinema on Lime Street has deteriorated, with internal collapse and leaning walls.
Opened in September 1912, it is the city's oldest purpose-built cinema.
It is due to be demolished as part of the £35m Lime Street regeneration scheme.
Campaigners have previously tried to save the building but the city council has said it cannot be saved.
