Liverpool Blitz: Rare sound recordings of WW2 bombing emerge

Rare sound recordings of the devastation caused by the World War Two Blitz in Liverpool have emerged 80 years on.

A BBC sound engineer climbed a watch tower and recorded what he saw - which included St Luke's Church being reduced to "just a shell".

His recordings never reached the airwaves but they were used as an education aid by two history teachers in West Yorkshire who recently offered them to BBC Radio 4.
