Owner Donna Goddard described Freddy as adventurous

A family feared they had lost their pet tortoise when it disappeared for eight months - until it turned up in a neighbour's garden across the road.

Fifteen-year-old Freddy was being kept in a garden in Wacton, Norfolk by friends of his owner, who were on holiday.

He was presumed stolen after he went missing from the address in August last year.

But earlier this month he was caught emerging from a hole by neighbours.

Donna Goddard, who has owned Freddy for seven years, said: "I think he was a bit jealous that we went on a holiday, so he thought he would take himself on holiday too."

She added he was a little thinner when he returned.
