Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a homeless man who died in a Norwich subway.

Sergiusz Meges, 29, from Poland, was found unconscious and not breathing in the underpass on St Stephens Street on 10 June. He had suffered a haemorrhage.

His death was initially treated as unexplained but Norfolk Police confirmed it was now a murder inquiry.

A 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old man, both from the Norwich area, have been detained and remain in custody.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses and said they were keen to talk to a couple in their late 20s or early 30s who were seen leaving the St Stephen's Road subway exit at around 20:45 BST on Tuesday 9 June.

They would also like to hear from a male teenager who passed Mr Meges in the subway at around 05:00 BST on 10 June and later returned to buy flowers from a stall by the subway to leave inside.
