An emu that went missing in Oxfordshire almost a week ago has been found.

The five-month-old emu was spotted by a farmer in his field in south Oxfordshire and has been returned home.

The missing bird, named Edward, had prompted a police hunt and a Rod Hull hashtag on Twitter - a reference to the entertainer who had an emu puppet.

Last night Thames Valley Police tweeted: "Edward the missing EMU is home safe and well ! Local farmer saw Edward in his field."
