The new marathon will see runners set off from Bristol and finish in Bath

A new marathon starting in Bristol and finishing in Bath is to take place next year, organisers have announced.

Roads will be completely shut to traffic along the 26.2 mile (42km) course for the event on 25 October.

Runners will take in the sights including Brunel's ss Great Britain and Queens Square before heading into Bath city centre via the Royal Crescent.

Further details of the event, including the full route, are due to be published in January.
