Guildford park-and-ride site planned

A park-and-ride site aimed at reducing congestion in Guildford town centre is being planned for land on the western side of the Surrey town.

Guildford Borough Council is to submit a planning application for the site, at Manor Park near the A3 and Surrey Research Park, early next year.

It already has an option to develop the University of Surrey land.

"Reduced congestion would benefit the local economy and environment," said Councillor Jenny Wicks.

The park-and-ride scheme ties in with a wider £16m Surrey Travel Smart green transport programme being organised by Surrey County Council.
