Lego Durham Cathedral model makes a triumphant return

Les Hancock was tasked with dismantling the Lego model of Durham Cathedral nearly three years ago, with the promise that one day it will be rebuilt.

Totalling 299,128 individual pieces, the model is now back on display in the monk's dormitory of the cathedral, at the entrance to the museum.

"It's brilliant to know that you've produced something which people are going to really enjoy in the future," said Les, lead volunteer on the project.

The model was originally constructed between 2013 and 2016, with members of the public donating £1 per brick.

It is as accurate a scale representation of the cathedral as possible, measuring 3.84m long, 1.53m wide and 1.7m high.
