Wiltshire council records an increase in fly-tipping

More waste is being illegally dumped in Wiltshire, according to latest figures.
Some 435 incidents of household waste being fly-tipped were recorded in the six months up until October - a 29% increase on the same period last year.
But Wiltshire Council still believes significant progress is being made in its battle against fly-tipping.
In the same period, it said that 13 prosecutions were made against waste offenders.
That half-yearly figure was higher than prosecutions made across the whole of 2011/12.
The authority has also served eight fixed penalty notices and issued 90 statutory notices and one formal caution.
