Man dies after being hit by vehicle on A419 in Swindon

A man has died after being hit by a vehicle on a major road in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police were called to the A419 north of Swindon at about 02:30 GMT after a pedestrian was struck near the Merlin Way bridge.
The road was closed in both directions for the majority of Wednesday.
Wiltshire Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch.
Road closures were in place between the White Hart and Commonhead Interchanges.
The Wanborough Bridge was also closed with diversion routes in place.
