York's revamped Shambles Market ready for opening

A historic market in York, which has undergone a £1.6m refurbishment, is to be officially re-opened.
There is a new layout to Shambles Market, formerly known as Newgate Market, as well as repairs to all the stalls and improved weatherproofing.
New lighting has been put in to give a "better shopping experience" and repairs made to paving areas.
From Monday, 86 stalls and seven kiosks will be open for business with the official re-opening on Wednesday.
The market, which operates seven days a week, is situated between Parliament Street and the Shambles, an ancient narrow cobbled street of 15th Century timbered buildings.
The re-opening is the end of extensive consultation with shoppers, stallholders and local businesses.
Traders have been temporarily housed in Parliament Street since the start of the year during the final part of redevelopment.
