Theresa May on police reforms, elections and Mitchell

The home secretary denied that comments by former chief whip Andrew Mitchell had undermined relations between the government and police officers.

Theresa May said: "We have been reforming the police for two-and-a-half years.. and that reform is beginning to work."

She spoke about police commissioner elections, immigration, relations with the US authorities, and proposed gun sanctions during The Sunday Interview with Andrew Neil.
