HS2 line route via Heathrow, suggests action group
The HS2 rail line should be routed via Heathrow Airport with links to Stratford in east London and on to Europe, the director of Conserve the Chilterns and Countryside has said.
Stephanie Boston claimed the government was not considering other options, which were better and cheaper, and had backing from some unions and business people.
She debated the plans with Conservative MP Sajid Javid and Labour's Liam Byrne - both representing West Midlands seats - after they watched Geoffrey Palmer's film against the project.
Previously, Pete Waterman made a film for the programme speaking up for the project, that should initially link London and Birmingham and later be extended to the cities of northern England.
