'Vichy' tag for Conservatives from UKIP's Godfrey Bloom
Drawing on World War ll references, a UKIP MEP described his party as the "resistance" and claimed the Conservatives were part of the "Vichy" regime in EU budget talks.
Godfrey Bloom said he was a "withdrawal-ist and that is our mandate" as he called himself part of the "maquis" who fought for a free France from the German-controlled wartime government.
But Conservative MEP Vicky Ford said his description was "completely unreasonable" and her party was offering the people of Britain a referendum.
She said it was "hugely misleading" to say the UK could leave the EU today at no cost. The pair were debating the EU budget talks with the BBC's Andrew Neil and Green MEP Jean Lambert.
