EU referendum and Queen's Speech: Bone, Farage and Reynolds

A Tory backbencher said the prime minister would be "toasting what I and a number of colleagues have done" as they expressed regret at the lack of an EU referendum bill in the Queen's Speech,

Peter Bone said he backed the speech setting out government plans, but he blamed the "pesky Liberal Democrats" for the lack of a bill, as he claimed some Tory ministers and Labour MPs would back a motion set to be heard on Wednesday.

Labour's Emma Reynolds said her party was against a referendum both now and later, but would not rule one out forever, although a "small handful" of Labour MPs were set to back Mr Bone.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage claimed the public did not trust the prime minister, and said the "dam has broken" as leading Tory peers and Michael Portillo were now speaking openly of the UK leaving the EU.
