MPs rebelling and voting against government more

David Cameron's first session as prime minister saw a rebellion in 44% of votes, the highest level for any post-war leader.

Nottingham University's Professor Phil Cowley, who has been adding up the numbers for a book, looked back at how the current crop of MPs have been loyal, or not, to their government.

He found MPs were most compliant in the 1940s and 1950s, but there has been a rising number of rebellions over the last two or three decades, especially since 2001.
