Duncan Smith on book claim that Osborne thinks he is 'thick'

The work and pensions secretary dismissed a claim in a book that the chancellor labelled him as a "bit thick", and told the BBC the pair were good friends.

Iain Duncan Smith said George Osborne had denied the claim, and he did not believe the phrase was used, as reported in Matthew d'Ancona's book, In it Together.

He told Andrew Neil: "I have had plenty of insults thrown at me" but added he did not mind as he would be in good company because "Mrs Thatcher was told she was not intelligent enough to run the country and Winston Churchill was told he was not intelligent enough."
