IFS on financial challenges for independent Scotland
The financial challenges for an independent Scotland would be "significantly greater" than for the rest of UK due to declining oil revenues and an ageing population, said the independent think tank, the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS).
IFS Deputy Director Carl Emmerson told Jo Coburn on the Daily Politics about the challenges ahead for the UK and Scotland in the coming years following the publication of its report, external, looking at taxes and spending levels now and in the future.
He predicted: "Some combination of tax rises or spending cuts would look likely."
