Political appearances debate: Schneider and Ferrari

The appearances of politicians such as Mo Mowlam, Angela Merkel, Ed Miliband and Ann Widdecombe, came under review in a debate on the importance of political looks.

Broadcaster Nick Ferrari said: "We select most things in life by looks, whether it is a car, whether it's a house, whether it's a partner, whatever it might be, we do it by looks".

But actor David Schneider said: "We shouldn't be choosing people to run the country in the way we choose cars or wives".

They spoke after watching Schneider's film for the Daily Politics from London Zoo.
