Alex Salmond on future plans for SNP and Scotland

The first minister of Scotland said he was not going away and planned to "be part of the political process in Scotland if people in Aberdeenshire wish to keep electing me".

Alex Salmond spoke to Andrew Neil about his decision to stand down from the top job, but remain as an MSP, after Scotland rejected independence in Thursday's referendum.

He said it was time to "give someone else a shot" and reckoned there were "many able people" who could do the job well, as they spoke about the SNP, reaction to Thursday's vote and future powers for Scotland.
